Melbourne Art Fair
Melbourne Art Foundation is a not for profit organisation established in 2003 to promote contemporary art and living Australian artists. The Foundation produces the biennial Melbourne Art Fair and the Melbourne Art Foundation Awards for the Visual Arts; the flagship events of Melbourne Art Week.
Melbourne Art Fair [2-5 August 2018] takes place for the first time in a temporary structure within the Southbank Arts Precinct and alongside ACCA. Showcasing a curated selection of 40 galleries, Melbourne Art Fair will present some of the newest and most respected artists from Australia, New Zealand and the region.
Awards for the Visual Arts
The Melbourne Art Foundation Awards for the Visual Arts is a biennial event that, since 2005 celebrates excellence and outstanding contributions to the Australian visual arts sector. The 2018 edition takes place on Saturday 4 August at ACCA. Nominations open February 2018.
Since 2006, the Commissions program has provided a living Australian artist with a significant opportunity to realise a large-scale work for unveiling at the Melbourne Art Fair. Previous artists include Michael Parekowhai, David Griggs, Peter Hennessey, Jon Campbell, Ian Burns, and Mikala Dwyer.
